photoshop tech devils eye

I did the devil's eye and that just makes the eye more sinister. I was extremely happy with my results and I think that it is very easy to do.

Text advertisments

Taco bell ad
1. This ad is trying to get people to want taco bell by using a dog. The dog is a chihuahua and that sounds kind of mexican which is what taco bell wants.
2. This font is serif and bracketed, the weight of the writing is normal. The contrast is a medium contrast and the x-height is short.
3. I think that the font does something for the ad it catches my eye to want to read it but it does not make me want to buy taco bell. I think the font reflects the intentions because they are trying to sell mexican food which has a zesty taste to it and they are using a funky text for it.
Avatar Ad
1. This ad is trying to make you want to see this movie. The picture of the earth and space is saying that this movie is fantasy and it is out of this world.
2. believe it or not- sans-serif, weight is normal, width is normal, and posture is oblique.
James Cameron's- sans-serif, weight is light, width is normal, and there is no contrast.
Avatar-sans serif, weight is bold, width is expanded, and contrast is low.
3. I think the treatment of the font in this ad is effective because with the picture and the text it draws my eye to this ad. I think this reflects the ad because the movie itself is a mystery from this ad and the front/text add to that mystery.
Ralph Lauren Ad
1. This ad is wanting you to buy these kinds of clothes and you will look as good as the model does in this picture. You can be very fashionable.
2.The text is serif, the weight is extra bold, the width is normal and there is a hogh contrast.
3. I think the treatment of the text in this ad is effective because it is bold and out there. I think this reflects the ad because the model in the picture looks like riding a motorcycle is not like her but she is being bold and daring and trying something new.

Self-Criticism

The reason I like this picture is that since it is winter everything is covered in white, except the dirt road and the red house. I like the contrast between the background and the objects in the picture. I like how we start out close to the house and as you look beyond the house everything else is looking further away. I think the exposure is goood in this picture and it is not photoshopped. I took this picture during mid-day and I did this because with the sun up high you get more light. But in this picture it was a little cloudy that day so you didn't get that much light. The sunlight is still there though.

When I was first taking this picture I wasn't really thinking of a meaning to the picture, I was just thinkig this would make a good picture to emualte for ansel adams. But now that I look at it I see some kind of meaning. It is a journey to somewhere, where you are going in life or maybe something that has happened and is repeating itself. In this picture you see this dirt road and I like that it means that you are on a path to where ever you are going. The house is a rest stop, a place you know is safe and you can trust. The background is the mountains and I see this as your path in life and you don't always know where it is going to take you. And that it is never easy. LIfe is full of mysterys and you never know what is going to be thrown at you. And in this photo it is the curve in the road so you don't kwo what lays behind that curve.

I like the way the dirt path and the house are in the picture and give the photo some kind of warmth. You can see that the sow is slowly melting away and that means that spring is coming. I like how I got everything in focus, I know that Ansel Adams was a man that lie taking photos of large land points and showing every detail. But I think next time I think I would have made the background a little unfocused. Because then you really don't know what is going to happen down the road.

Emulation Project proposal

For the proposal, I choose to emulate Ansel Adams and his way of taking pictures of the outdoors/nature pictures. I really like how he does not change anything he using what nature gives him and takes that picture. I like how he did them in black and white, it sorta feels like when he took the picture everything else in the world stopped just for this one picture. If these pictures were in color I think you would a feel the heat or chill of them, depending what kind of picture you were looking at. Ansel Adams did photos of these big outdoors pictures where you can see everything below. Like in Grand Canyon he took it from a height so you can look over and see the view of where he was. In most of his photos he makes you feel in the photo and see what he is seeing. Where I live you have some spectaclur views from some views. You can see the horzion and the houses and fields of the people around the area. Since Adams does nature photos I was thinking that I would take pictures of scenery like him. His scenery is of famous landmarks, mine will be of landmarks in my area.I will photograph certain views from the area that I live in because each one of Adams picture had a beauty in it and so will mine. There are some views that i really like where I live and I think i will photograph those views. Adams style is unqiue because its of views that are more or less famous. People know where they are and I like that, but when I try to emulate his kind of style I want it to be somewhere that not many people know where it is. I am going to need to go to a high height so the viewer can see everything. I always have to make sure that there are houses of some sort in the photo.

Emulation Project post 2

1. Ansel Adams
2. Richard Avedon
3. Hiroshi Sugimoto

1. ansel adams
Ansel Adams did film photos and they were in black and white. Since he does pictures of nature and the outdoors his lighting his whatever light is outside at that time. He didn't use props because he was using the nature that was already there. I do not see any any photoshop edits in his pictures. Well since he was outdoors you can not have assistants that set up the Grand Canyon so he would have worked alone. Adams liked doing his photos outside and using nature which I really like.

2. Richard Avedon
Richard Avedon did digital photos and he started taking pictures for fashion Harper's Bazaar, then later in his life he started his own studio which he provided pictures for Vogue and life. He changed the way that the models modeled he made them show emotion, were in other photographers do not. Since he worked in a studio he did use artificial lights and he did have assistants to help him along with models. His fashion picture have lots of emotion to them and you can feel that emotion unlike other photographers that do not have the models show emotion.

3. Hiroshi Sugimoto
Hiroshi didn't seem to have one style that he liked and always did it, he varied his styles in all his pictures. They look like they were set up so working in a studio or something, and since working a studio you would need some artificial lighting. Some of his photos seem photoshopped but not all of them. Because some pictures did not always have the same tone of color in them or that something looked darker then it should. In most of his pictures he seemed that it was something that he could do on is own.
