The reason I like this picture is that since it is winter everything is covered in white, except the dirt road and the red house. I like the contrast between the background and the objects in the picture. I like how we start out close to the house and as you look beyond the house everything else is looking further away. I think the exposure is goood in this picture and it is not photoshopped. I took this picture during mid-day and I did this because with the sun up high you get more light. But in this picture it was a little cloudy that day so you didn't get that much light. The sunlight is still there though.
When I was first taking this picture I wasn't really thinking of a meaning to the picture, I was just thinkig this would make a good picture to emualte for ansel adams. But now that I look at it I see some kind of meaning. It is a journey to somewhere, where you are going in life or maybe something that has happened and is repeating itself. In this picture you see this dirt road and I like that it means that you are on a path to where ever you are going. The house is a rest stop, a place you know is safe and you can trust. The background is the mountains and I see this as your path in life and you don't always know where it is going to take you. And that it is never easy. LIfe is full of mysterys and you never know what is going to be thrown at you. And in this photo it is the curve in the road so you don't kwo what lays behind that curve.
I like the way the dirt path and the house are in the picture and give the photo some kind of warmth. You can see that the sow is slowly melting away and that means that spring is coming. I like how I got everything in focus, I know that Ansel Adams was a man that lie taking photos of large land points and showing every detail. But I think next time I think I would have made the background a little unfocused. Because then you really don't know what is going to happen down the road.
AMY!! I love this picture, which is why I am choosing yours! I enjoy your self-criticism and how you said "it looks like a journey," that is so true, I thought that as well! You're right, the sun isn't VERY bright, but there is still natural light. Going back to your interpretation of this photo, I like how you thought of the house as a "rest stop" in a journey, although it doesn't appear to be extremely safe, it is still some sort of safety from the outside world. I think you did a great job. This is a very well taken photo and with some vig-netting and/or adding quite a bit of contrast, this could be a very beautiful photo which could have many interpretations behind it, as everyone has their own opinion on things.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I think the angle is great and I honestly can't think of any flaws at the moment with this photo. I have seen your other pictures and I think this is one of your best! Good job :)
Good work, Kylie and Amy.
ReplyDeleteAmy - please be careful of typos and misspellings; I stumbled over quite a few in your critique. It might be helpful to type your entry in Word, check your spelling, and then post it to your blog. Otherwise - this is a very good reflection. Well done.
