Photoshop review

Question One: What are the three types edits that we have learned and in what order did we complete these edits for the Frame within a Frame project?  Why do we edit photographs in this order?

1. We learned curves and levels, color balance and photo filtering, and vignetting. We did curves and levels first, then we did color balance and photo filtering. Finally you do vignetting. We edit these in this order because you want to have the perfect exposure, then you want the color of the picture to be in contrast each each. Even everything out, the last thing you do is vignetting because you may or may not need to do that.

Question Two: What are the “quick keys” for:  Move Tool, Crop Tool, Brush Tool, Text Tool, and Mask Mode.  We did not go over the “quick keys” for Mask Mode in class, find the answer through your own research.

Question Three: What are the “short-cuts” for Select-All, Inverse-Selection and Deselect-Selection.  (Ctrl + ?, if you work on a PC, or Command + ?, if you work on a Mac.)

Question Four: Write all the steps necessary to create vignetting.  Do not forget to write what Brush Mode we use, and what percentage of opacity, hardness and flow we use to paint the mask.

4. Click on the brush tool and make the circle to fit the picture. Make sure that the percentage of opacity is 100% and the flow is 100% and the hardness is 0. Click on the quick mask mode, click where you want to vignette. When you are done click the masking button again, you should have marching ants around were you just vignetted. Open up curves and change the exposure to your liking.

Question Five: When you open a JPEG in Photoshop, how many layers do you start with, and what are they / is it called?

5. When you open the JPEG in photoshop you start with one layer and it is called the background.

Question Six: Which of these buttons on your Layers palette do you press to make a new edit layer (curves, levels, color balance, etc.)?  Which of these buttons do you use to delete a layer?

6. You click on the black and white cookie to get to your curves and levels etc. You drag the layer you don't want any more and bring it to the trash can.

Question Seven: How do you “turn off” a layer / make it invisible?

7. Click the eyeball next to the layer.

1. The first thing I notice about the picture is the burning house.

2. There are people in these photograph, and they seem to be walking away from the burning house. One of them looks like she is standing there and staring at the house. They are located on the train tracks.

3. The train tracks look like they haven't been used in quite a while. You can see that the plants are tall and the tracks look a little rusted. I would say a few years sine the tracks were last used.

4. The burning house is made of wood.

5. It looks like a bunch of boxes and crates.

Story

The Wilson house has been abandoned for years, the white paint of the house is chipping, the wood is rotting slowly. People even starting using the property as there own dumpster. Whatever they didn't want they put in boxes and put it on the property. Since no one had seen anyone in that house for at least three years they assumed no one lived there. But what the people did not know was that smugglers and wanted people who escaped, used the house as a hideout. They would hid their goods in the house somewhere that no one would find them and then left the next day to return soon with more. But one time there was a prison break escaper that find some of the goods in the house and saw that there was evidence that proved him guilty. And he couldn't have that fall into the wrong hands. So he lit a match on everything that was linked to him. The fire grew and grew so he left the house quickly and silently. People awoke because of the smell of smoke in the air. They traveled outside to see the Wilson house on fire. There were people staring at the house and some looked like they were taking a stroll in the morning and ignoring the burning house. No one seemed to even try to put out the fire they just watched as the house burned to the ground.
